paper artist of the day: hideo iwasaki!

detail of mobile composition ii
japanese biologist and artist hideo iwasaki uses only a knife and his imagination to create amazing monochromatic pieces. no sketch. no mounting of the paper to a fixed surface. just an organic and inituitive process and the results are remarkable! iwasaki generally installs his pieces as mobiles or between panes of glass, as shown here.

mobile composition ii, 2007. black paper.
polymorphosis, 2004. black paper, acrylic, and mirror.
