wet clay ...was created from a desire to make beautiful products out of materials that would otherwise go unused.  this project began in 2011 when bre was working at a high end furniture store in savannah, ga.  it quickly became a goal to find a use for all of the discontinued leather samples that had to be discarded.  all of the wet clay cuff bracelets are made of reclaimed, full grain upholstery leather, and because each piece  of leather is unique no two bracelets are exactly alike. thanks, breanna, for the introduction! hope you all have a lovely weekend!

sandy dooley is an artist living + working in kent... i work with landscapes, from which i draw my inspiration.  the play of light and shadow, and the in-the-moment experience  of absorbing the world around me inform my work. i am also drawn by my memories of a childhood spent outside,  the visual impact and pleasure of that still resonates with me. i enjoy working in an experimental way with different materials...mark-making  is something that intrigues me. i frequently throw paint at the canvas, and  work with the canvas on the floor, dripping paint onto it.  the spontaneity that gives me is very valuable. sandy trained at st. martin's school of art in central london.  thank you, sandy , for the introduction! hope you all have a lovely weekend!

paper designer | anna bower i love the versatility of paper and the way in which it can be manipulated and transformed. in making pieces, i begin by cutting, tearing and pulping the paper before i reconstruct, mould and carve it into entirely new shapes and structures. i like the fact that i am using materials which are not precious and a part of our everyday lives. anna bower is a designer/maker, who produces a range of sculptural bowls,  receptacles and artefacts in her studio in east london. anna’s work is based on  recycled paper and other waste materials. anna uses paper and card from newspapers, magazines, packaging,  egg cartons  and anything else that comes to hand.   she shreds, pulps, manipulates, moulds, dyes and carves the paper  to create familiar  but surprising forms and objects.  anna trained as fine artist at birmingham institute of art and design.  he...

Image
mitra fabian   is a sculptor and installation artist working with atypical materials such as tape, glue,  various office and scientific products, and even window blinds.  as she builds with  these materials, she deconstructs them or alters them in such a way that they are  not immediately recognizable.  the reconstruction is in some way determined by what  the material is  capable  of doing, but not  meant  to do.  the new physical form is always  more organic, often mimicking the appearance of tumors, magnified cells, or mold.   these materials often perform as a skin – their translucency captures light and plays tricks  on the eye- breathing, swaying, or slowly and quietly growing.  fabian uses exclusively  manufactured materials thereby transforming the artificial, throwaway product into  something seemingly natural.  this serves as a commentary on the increasin...
