the magno radio by singgih susilo kartono was recently awarded a 2009 design award from the london design museum the radio was designed to launch a community-based eco regeneration project in kartono's village of central java. each radio takes 16 hours to handcarve of locally-sourced wood and for every tree used in production, one is replanted. i might be quite easily persuaded to listen to fm radio if i had this ~ the white fruit radio by swann bourotte. made from sycamore (generally reserved for orchestral instruments) with an led substrate. the ridges on top respond to touch to adjust both channel and volume.

i want it. sustainably grown wood (made supporting local craftspeople in indonesia) and mp3 player compatible. fantastic! check it here .
