playing without instruction or guidance is a kind of self-guided playing. through the process the children create their own rules, follow their feelings and emotion, flow with their imaginations...it is a platform on which they actualize their thoughts. through actualization, they come to realize themselves. the more we intervene, the less they assert themselves.

this is going to be a huge post, but i can't help but post a gazillion pics of what i find to be some of the most amazing handcrafted furniture i've ever seen. palo samko is based in brooklyn, and that's about all i know, except to say that he has phenomenal woodworking skills! the designs and the attention to detail are just so, so beautiful ~ my jaw quite literally dropped with every click through the slideshow! enjoy! {via roadside scholar }
