daily paper fix: newspaperwood

newspaperwood
by mieke meijer + vij5

a reversing of a traditional production process;
not from wood to paper, but the other way around.

when a newspaperwood log is cut, the layers of paper

appear like lines of a wood grain...(it) can be cut,
milled
and sanded and generally treated like any type of wood.

Fantasic product, I would love to read the grain. It's like when you make paper mache and find yourself reading a really interesting fragment of paper.
Love the top image - great find.
