lite by south african creative collective, animal farm designed so that it can only fit an energy saver bulb, lite is light on electricity and spun from plantation wood so it’s sustainable and light on the environment. no stains or dyes are used. all the wood is it’s natural colour. i really, really like this! {via dezeen }

mio has teamed with target to launch a new line of sustainable outdoor tools and accessories, available for a limited time beginning april 12. the line includes gardening tools, a watering can, composter, hammock and other items, all made of recycled and renewable materials. {via inhabitat }

this is me, last night...hi! busy, busy week of fundraisers (it's my job - tired, can you tell?!). 2 down, 1 to go. i really, really tried to have all posts lined up in anticipation of this crazy week, but time caught up with me, i apologize. if i don't get to blogging today, please check back in tomorrow. and, if not, i hope you have a fabulous day! it's rainy here ~ i hope it's bright and sunny (or rainy, depending on your preference) wherever you are.

sustainable living find of the day: re:vision

urban re:vision is a revolutionary initiative to create the prototype for an innovative, sustainable urban community. at the heart of the process is a series of contests generating visionary ideas for what can and should be in the design about urban space. i am so inspired by this project! not sure if you know this, but i am the director of development for a nonprofit watershed organization, and much of our energy right now is focused on collaborative work to promote and implement sustainable development/green building. i live in an area where, fortunately, this movement has some real momentum and i'm excited to be a part of it. the current competition for urban re:vision is a challenge to transform one city block in dallas to be the most sustainable city block imaginable. and beyond ideas, this is an actual urban building project supported by the mayor and in conjunction with real developers. winners will receive cash prizes and their ideas will be considered for purchase (and

corners of my home.

don't you love peeking into the homes and workspaces of artists you admire, to see what surrounds and inspires them? i do. camilla engman is an absolute favorite and as you might expect, she has a lovely home and a lovely studio ~ from her corners of my home set.

daily paper fix: invisible cities

i love this piece by helen friel , based on a city described in italo calvino's book 'invisible cities' in which the inhabitants stretch strings between buildings to mark each new relationship. why can't we do this? it would be so pretty, no? {via design*sponge ~ thanks jackie for the link!}
